Tucked away on the peaceful banks of the Boteti River, Camelthorn Farmstead is a campsite retreat where authentic Botswana hospitality meets unforgettable wilderness.
Just 140 km from Maun and moments from the Khumaga Gate of Makgadikgadi National Park, it’s the perfect place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience one of Botswana’s most remarkable landscapes.

Whether you’re setting out to explore the vast Makgadikgadi salt pans, following the spectacular zebra migration, or simply unwinding beneath the shade of ancient camelthorn trees, every stay is enriched by our deep local knowledge and genuine passion for sharing this special corner of Botswana.

Great stay at this well set up farmstead with friendly and helpful staff. One of the best campsites we’ve stayed at after road tripping Namibia & Botswana. Lovely spacious sites under the Camelthorn trees with a big braai area and fantastic private ensuites that have lots of small handy details thought out and consistent hot water! The viewing deck was full of animal activities, making a great sundowner spot. Would highly recommend, wish we could have stayed longer!

This camp is fantastic. Each campsite is huge and equipped with a small cabin containing a shower, sink, and toilet, as well as a small kitchenette. There’s also a fire pit and plenty of space and peace and quiet.

The viewing platform at the waterhole is incredible 😍 So many elephants come to this waterhole to drink, bathe, or get a mud bath. I could have sat there for hours. Simply breathtaking, and I’d go back in a heartbeat!
